Transformation

The release date for "Transformation" has been set to February 29th. "Transformation" is a collection of remixes and new versions of tracks from "Fourth" done by Cayce Andrew, Metaphase, HellNegative, Victor Savelle, and wonkknow. Also included is an all-new version of the track "Paradox" (which originally appeared on the early release version of "Fourth"). "Transformation" will be available exclusively on wonkknow.com where you will be able to pay any price you want for the album.

I am taking my music off of Itunes, Amazon, and most of the other music distribution sites and will be releasing it on wonkknow.com. The site has has been redesigned to make things more stream-lined and make things easier on the eyes. The best part is that you can download high-quality mp3's directly from wonkknow.com and pay any price you want - $1, $100, or even $0. That's right. Pay what you want. It's a new year and it's time for new ideas.

Live Tonight

CityLife

Candy Warpop's remix EP "Post-Op Lollipop" (which I appear on) got a very nice write-up in this weeks CityLife. Of my remix, they had this to say: "Wonkknow re-envisions the Tool-esque 'Plastic Earth' as a space-age techno rocker, complete with stutter edits."

The EP was originally set to come out tomorrow on the 21st, but the band decided to move up the release date a day early to coincide with the article release, which means the album is out now on iTunes, Amazon, BandCamp and more.

Candy Warpop

Candy Warpop will be releasing their remix EP "Post-Op Lollipop" on October 21st. My remix of "Plastic Earth" will be on there, alongside remixes by Cayce Andrew, Metaphase, Jonny Vibe, and Djeff. There's also going to be a live show on October 26th featuring all of us live. In addition to all that, members of Candy Warpop and the aforementioned remixers from the EP (including myself) will be on Future Sound 91.5 KUNV promoting the album, playing some tracks from it, and being interviewed on October 14th and 21st. Remixing

I've finished a couple new remixes. One for spoken word artist Angxtrom33 and one for Vegas local rock band Candy Warpop (listen here and here). I'm not sure when Angxtrom33's remix will be released, but Candy Warpop will be releasing a remix album within the next few months which will include my remix (with remixes by Metaphase, Cayce Andrew, Jonny Vibe, and Djeff). I'll also be playing a show alongside aforementioned artists (and Candy Warpop) around the same time that album is released.

Speaking of live shows, I've finally been learning how to use Ableton properly for dynamic live shows. I've already cooked-up a few new alternate versions of tracks that you'll only hear live. After a little more rehearsing and getting everything working for a live P.A., I'm going to be scheduling a lot more shows soon.

Paradox

Just finished the new version of "Paradox". I was never quite happy with the original version that I released with the first release of "Fourth". It had parts I liked, but it definitely was the worst track on the entire album. That's why I removed it for the re-release. This new version features a harder faster beat, new instrumentations to accompany some of the pre-existing sounds, and fresh new lyrics that I'm especially proud of. I'll master it within the next couple of days and I'll be premiering it live at Production One ver. 2.0 on July 30th. After that, I will post a clip of it online.

I will be performing a live PA with Ableton (for the first time) on July 30th. The event called Production One ver. 2.0 (details here). It's at the Royal House here in Vegas. There's no cover and the music starts at 9.

Ichibanmatsuri

The 1230 Show has once again invited me to be apart of their masterful show. I'll be doing a very rare house DJ set before the show starts and again after the show is over. The Grid

It's been quiet for a while now, because I've been locked away working on various things. First off, I've entered a contest on Indaba to remix a Daft Punk song from their phenomenal Tron soundtrack. Indaba actually provided 3 Daft Punk songs to choose from, "Derezzed", "End Of Line", and "The Grid". I chose "The Grid" because it's the only one that's not already a dance song (therefore more challenging) and it's also quite a beautiful piece. Listen here:

The grand prize is $1000, an iPad2, a chance be featured on KCRW and be released by Walt Disney Records. Jason Bentley will be judging entries and choose 1 grand prize winner and 10 runner-ups. There's also a voting period (ending May 12th) and the top 20 highest-voted tracks get the vinyl release of the Tron: Legacy soundtrack and $50.

I've also been getting tracks/remixes together from various artists for a "Himmid" EP to come out sometime this year (hopefully). The re-release of my album "Fourth" is mere months away (with remastered versions of the tracks and the inclusion of an all-new track). There's also an EP I did with Cayce Andrew titled "As You Face West" that will be coming out in the next few months, shortly after "Fourth" comes back out. The 1230 Show is revving up again and I've been asked to again provide the after show music. The show opens in the beginning of May.

Retooling

Due to circumstances beyond my control, my first album "Fourth" will no longer be available for purchase in CD or MP3 form for the time being. The album is being retooled, remastered, reconfigured. Once it has emerged from its cocoon anew, it will be available again online for purchase. It will not be returning in CD format in the foreseeable future.

A very talented Las Vegas producer and DJ named Victor Savelle has taken it upon himself to remix a couple of my tracks. He recently finished his reworking of Himmid and he's currently working on Lion's Den. For Himmid, he changed what was originally a dark, brooding, psychedelic breakbeat track into an intense, driving trance track:

The 1230 Show has gone dark for a few weeks, so the cast can rewrite the show to include new acts to help spice things up. It should be returning in April and with it, I'll be returning as the post-show musical entertainment.

1230 Show

The 1230 Show is coming up again and I'm lucky enough to have been apart of it of the last few shows. They've asked me back this time around. On January 6th I will be performing live at DaVinci's Muse (more details/information available here). Cayce Andrew will be playing percussion alongside me. There's also going to be a poi spinner named Melanie joining us. Along with all that, I will have several physical copies of my album "Fourth" for sale - only $10 each.

Electronic dance music produced and remixed live, all original tracks, live singing, live percussion, and a professional poi spinner. This will definitely be a performance not to miss.

And The Winner Is...

The winners of the Underworld Bird 1 Remix contest were announced today. I did not win. Underworld chose someone else as the winner and two runner-ups (you can listen to the winners here). I feel honoured to have been a finalist in this contest and even moreso that Underworld listened to my track. Them hearing my work was prize enough for me.

Adjustments

It seems BeatPortal went through and adjusted everyone's votes/"spins" for the Underworld Bird 1 Remix Contest. I'm guessing they did it based on votes coming from the same IP address(es), because I know several people voted from the same computer or same IP. My vote count went from 247 down to 97, which means I'm no longer in 9th place. I looked up the other entries and all their votes were trimmed down, as well. If my research was correct, my new placement in the voting charts put me right in 2nd place.

Also, the announcement for who won has been pushed back to December 6th.

9th

The Underworld "Bird 1" Remix Contest has ended and I was in 9th place when voting stopped. This means my track (along with the other 9 in the top 10 and another 10 songs selected by the editors of BeatPort) will be handed to over to Underworld and Underworld will choose a grand prize winner and 2 runners up. They'll announce the winners on November 30th.

This contest meant a lot to me. And not so much winning the top prize. Just to get Underworld to hear my track is prize enough. They are my favourite band of all time, as well as one of my major influences/inspirations for what I do musically. To have my track make it to Underworld's ears is pure victory for me. Anything else that happens with this contest - win or lose - doesn't matter. And I wouldn't have gotten to them if it wasn't for the overwhelming support I got from my friends and fans. There were a total of 315 entries. During the contest, your votes got me as high as 7th place and you never let me drop below 13th. My heart is full from the outstanding show of support and love you all have given me. Saying "Thank You" isn't strong enough to fully illustrate what I feel in appreciation, but it'll have to do.

Performed at "Leaving Las Vegas" today with Cayce Andrew. There were a couple of hiccups in the beginning, but it all worked out in the end. I'm very blessed and humbled to have had the honour of being able to perform with him. He's amazingly talented as a drummer, musician, and more. I just finished my remix of Underworld's track "Bird 1" for the contest. I think it's turned out pretty damn nice. I put a lot of hard work into this track. It clocks in at 8 minutes, 37 seconds. "37" just so happens to be my lucky number. I didn't plan for that, whatsoever. It just happened. Is it a sign I remixed a track by my favourite band in the entire world for a contest and it coincidentally has my lucky number in the length of the track? One can hope. I have a little polishing/mastering to do on the track, but I should be submitting it before the night is through.

Lion's Den Remix

I'm working really hard on a remix of my track "Lion's Den." I'm trying something new this time: I'm making this remix a down tempo track. It's around 90 BPM's right now. Might go a little slower or a little faster, not sure yet. It's actually turning out to be a pretty hard/intense down tempo song. And I figure I've gotten about half of it completed here at the 3:30 mark. Trying my best to not make this be another 8+ minute long song, which I have a tendency to do.
